ZENITH 29-SERIES CARBURETOR
Section 1. DESCRIPTION
9. Description
a. Carbureter. The Zenith 29-series is a downdraft carburetor ith a concentric float bowl. This type bowl amists in the proper setering of air and fuel to the engine, without flooding, when the shicle is operated on extreme angles. It is a "sealed" and "balanced" arburetor in that all air for the fuel bowl chamber ventilation and Iling must come through the air cleaner. Air cleaner restrictions have a influence on fuel-air ratio. A double venturi is employed to aid the complete vaporization of the fuel. The power jet and acceler ting pump systems are operated by engine vacuum and are completely aclosed and protected from dirt. These auxiliary jet systems are provide the extra fuel needed for certain operations.
b. Built-in Speed Governor. This series is built in two types. The andard models employ the conventional mechanism for control ng the throttle to regulate the engine speed. The combination arburetor-governor unit offers a simple, compact design that assures tore exact engine speed control. It eliminates the extra governor arottle plate, as used in separate governors, and no special passages transfer valves are required to control vacuum advance mech nism and the vacuum-controlled power jet. The service procedure overing the disassembly and assembly of the throttle body and gov mor mechanism is not included in this procedure for the standard iodels. In servicing the special models with built-in governor, allow all steps in the standard procedure except those that pertain to an disassembly and assembly of the standard throttle body. Refor chapter 13 for the disassembly, repair, assembly, adjustment and alibration of the governor mechanism.
c. External Dimensions. The overall height of the GOV-U- ETOR type is approximately 14 inches less than the overall height f the standard carburator and separate speed governor combined. The more compact unit and air inlet located on the side simplifies sany air cleaner clearance problems, and makes lower engine hood esign possible. No special governor hy-passes or special hange
