INTRODUCTION
1. GENERAL.
a. This is a list of equipment and spare parts issued to the using arm or service for operation of the matériel and for performing organizational maintenance. It supplements tables of organization and equipment, tables of basic allowances, and tables of allowances.
b. The Federal Item Identification Number column lists those numbers approved by the Munitions Board Cataloging Agency. These numbers should not be confused with Federal Stock Catalog numbers which are utilized by the Ordnance Corps for tools, lubricants, etc.
c.An explanation of symbols used throughout this catalog is included under NOTES.
d. Ordnance installations will find classification codes for Federal stock numbers listed herein are published in ORD 5-2, Alphabetical Index to Stock List of All Items.
e. Additional applications of items listed in this publication, if any, are contained in the Department of the Army Supply Catalog ORD 5-5 series.
f. For prices of items contained herein, see the appropriate catalog of the ORD 5-3 series.

2. SPECIAL INFORMATION.
Major items covered in this catalog may be equipped with either of four engines. The symbol HM-RXB opposite a spare part is authorized for vehicles equipped with ENGINE G509-0169600. The symbol HM-RXC opposite a spare part is authorized for vehicles equipped with ENGINE G509-7540282, ENGINE G509-7540281, or ENGINE G509- 7743927.
3. REQUISITION NOTE:
a. If the exact item requisitioned is not furnished nor other action.
necessary, the nature of the action taken by the supplying agency will be indicated by standard
symbols on prescribed forms.
b. When requisitioning an item containing the note "Issue until stock is exhausted, then use ," the requisitioning agency will requisition the superseding item. Supplying agen- cies will take necessary action to issue the superseded item until exhausted whether it be an individual item, kit, set, or assembly.
4. UNIT OF ISSUE. The Unit of Issue column lists the unit of issue used for each item. This may be an actual unit of issue, such as "oz," "Ib," etc., or merely by the word "each" designated by "ea."
5. QUANTITY INCORPORATED IN UNIT. The Quantity Incorporated in Unit column lists
quantities for the following:
a. For vehicle spare parts which are not indented, the quantity indicates the number of those parts required for the particular use indicated by the subgroup title only. These quantities do not indicate the total quantities of the parts required for the major item since the part may be used in more than one subgroup.
b. For vehicle spare parts which are indented (attaching parts), the quantity indicates the number of those parts required for attaching the item under which the attaching part is listed. These quantities do not indicate the total quantities of the attaching parts required for the major item or subgroup since the attaching parts may be used in more than one subgroup and may also be used more than once within a subgroup.
